The Honourable Ivan Cleveland Rand is appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada as a puisne judge. Two years later, Justice Rand will develop the "Rand Formula" for levying union dues.
1963
The Right Honourable Robert Taschereau is appointed Chief Justice of Canada.
1988
Willard Zebedee Estey retires as a puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Canada.
