Bill creating the Supreme Court of Canada is passed in parliament [due largely to the efforts of Sir John A. MacDonald, Alexander Mackenzie, and Edward Blake]. The Minister of Justice, Télesphore Fournier, is appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada as a puisne judge on September 30 that same year.
