Security screening

To ensure everyone’s safety, visitors entering the Supreme Court building will undergo security screening along with their belongings.

What to expect

You will be asked to walk through a metal detector and you may be scanned with a hand-held metal detector. Your belongings, like bags or coats, will go through an X-ray machine.

You will be asked to remove your coat or jacket if you are wearing one, and show security staff electronics and liquids you have with you.

The security screening takes approximately 15 minutes. If you need assistance or have any special needs, let security staff know when you arrive at the screening point.

The Supreme Court of Canada will not tolerate any abusive language or threatening behaviour.
